We Are Kervana

We're building games a different way. Software obsessed and game design focused.

Setup.jpg

We started with this observation. Most studios are all about shipping. Game content above all else and just barely enough software to get to the finish line. If your game is one and done, there are no new features, you desperately need revenue, you're beholden to VC or a public board, this is rational and helps the executive team keep their jobs.

But if were solvent with years and years of runway, had no external investors, and didn't want to have to rebuild the game engine from scratch with each game then what?

One of our founding bold bets is that an amazing software foundation will pay for itself. Being engineering focused means new systems come faster and work better. More features that scale longer means more ambitious game design.

Technology First

We know a thing or two about software development that the games industry doesn't practice. The capabilities we're building in our games are hard to solve problems.

No Watering Down

We don't need to ship our first game in a year, we don't need a publisher, and we certainly don't need to compromise on game experience with gimmicks like micro-transactions.

Core Audience over Mass Appeal

We are building games focused at the core audience of any genre we build in. We'd rather build the game the way that's the most interesting and engaging instead of watering it down for mass appeal.
